Hi - I'm Annika and I am a fashion and costume designer from Portland, Oregon.
I am specialized in pattern cutting and pattern design and have been involved in many international award winning high-end feature film, and stage productions.
Parallel to my professional career, I have been teaching classes on pattern construction and fashion design in Germany and here in Portland since 2018.

Pattern making is very simple at the core.
This class sums up the principles of pattern making that are the base of every pants pattern ever drafted. And yours.....
AND...., every interesting design is born out of a basic pattern draft. The block.
To create new designs out of the pattern block, we can use certain pattern modification techniques to add width or length, play with the proportion, and create decorative elements.
Every month I am introducing a different one of these techniques to allow you to build a foundation of knowledge around creative pattern design. This will make you understand patterns even better and make you versatile and confident in your design choices.
While I am using sample designs to showcase the technique, you can apply the technique to your sewing projects in any way you want.
